Over the weekend we told you of the strong rumors circulating about Catching Fire filming in Oakland, New Jersey. This news has now been confirmed by the Film Commissioner of New Jersey who divulges that they were not only filming, but Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth were on site as well!
From North Jersey:
The movie crews on Skyline Drive and in the woods nearby last week were, in fact, filming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” — something a source close to the movie’s production had denied.
“They filmed scenes for the beginning of the movie in Ramapo State Forest,” said Steven Gorelick, executive director of the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission, who was on the set during Friday’s filming.
The movie’s stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, were there, Gorelick said. Skyline Drive traverses Oakland and Ringwood.
The 22-year-old Lawrence, who said Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards that she is battling walking pneumonia, couldn’t have enjoyed the frigid temperatures, but it made for good moviemaking.
“The weather worked perfectly for them,” said Gorelick. “The water froze and there was a little snow, and they got some very good footage.”
