The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline have reported that Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore is in talks to star as President Alma Coin in the final Mockingjay movies. This would reunite her with Josh Hutcherson, who starred as her son in The Kids Are All Right.
Julianne Moore is in early talks to join the third and fourth installments of The Hunger Games films.
The actress would play District 13 leader Alma Coin in the two-part adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘Mockingjay.
Talks are early, but Moore would join a cast that includes stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as well asPhilip Seymour Hoffman.
This comes at a time when Moore has a lot of good stuff going. The actress, who’s coming off her Emmy-winning portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO’s Game Change; plays the twisted mom in the Kim Peirce-directed Carrie remake; stars opposite Jeff Bridges inSeventh Son for Warner Bros; and opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson in Don Jon, which Gordon-Levitt wrote and directed. I saw the latter film in Sundance, and there is a strong performance by Moore, on the order of The Kids Are All Rright.
Personally I’d be thrilled if this came true! Julianne’s repertoire speaks for itself, and it would be amazing to add an actress with such range and capability! She’s one of my favorite actresses and I could not think of someone better to battle head to head with Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.
