Pictorial on THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Fan Camp Weekend

From Saturday, November 16th through the red carpet U.S. premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Monday, November 18th, fans got a chance to camp out for the weekend and not only hang out with fellow fans, but also meet some of the stars of the sequel of The Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire.  700 fans slept out in tents that were set up specifically for them.  They got to show their support by bringing their own signs depicting favorite quotes and/or characters from the books.  On Saturday, the fans got to meet and get an item signed by Stephanie Leigh Schlund (Cashmere) and Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen).  Then on Sunday, Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair), Jena Malone (Johanna Mason), and Jeffrey Wright (Beetee) arrived for a group signing for the fans.  Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and director Francis Lawrence also came by as a surprise to sign for the loyal fans as well.

Various activities were to be had, such as taking a picture with the Catching Fire poster in the background and raffle drawings hosted by KIIS FM.  A Catching Fire T-Shirt, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, was given to each participating fan.  And fans were able to watch The Hunger Games movie on the big screen that overlooks the Nokia Plaza square in preparation for the sequel.

The highlight, of course, was the red carpet event itself, which brought out actors from Catching Fire as well as a few others, including The Hunger Games author herself, Suzanne Collins!  Afterwards, all campers were able to get a ticket to see the movie.

Video: Bruno Gunn on Playing Brutus

Bruno Gunn attended the Dignity Gala last week in support of the launch of the Red Light Traffic App (the aim of which is to end human trafficking so it’s definitely worth checking out!) where he talked a bit about his role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Bruno Gunn on His Role in Catching Fire and the Hunger Games Fandom

In a recent interview with Hollywood.com, Bruno Gunn said some pretty nice things about us tributes!  He also talked about his role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, social media, and more!

Tell us about your character Brutus. What did you do to prepare to get in the head space to play him?

As a former Victor in one of the richest districts (Two) in Panem, Brutus was afforded a privileged lifestyle.  He’s a fierce warrior who was groomed for the Arena.  I immediately related to Brutus’ fiery competitive nature.  It was also important for me to create a personal back story for him and let that influence what was otherwise a very physical role.

Did you read any of the books before your audition? Do you think the movie will satisfy fans of the book?

Before I auditioned for the role? No.  I only knew it was a phenomenon.  I got the news I was cast as Brutus in between connecting flights to Italy. Nine hours on a plane with this life-changing news and I couldn’t share it with anyone.  Let’s just say I threw myself a small celebration on the plane.  I picked them up immediately and they were the best books I ever read.  I was immediately immersed in the world.  The fans will be very happy.

Obviously you are no stranger to the big screen, but how are you dealing with the fandom of Hunger Games? It is quite a phenomenon. How do you anticipate the release of the movie will impact you personally? Have you given any thought on how best to handle it?

They are well-read, intelligent and creative fans who have a passion for reading.  They love Suzanne Collins and pore over every line of her story.   It’s been a completely positive experience.  It’s great hearing people tell me that they’re discovering some of my earlier work and am excited for them to see future projects.

Bruno Gunn Describes His Intense Catching Fire Work Out Regimen

In a recent interview with CantonRep, Bruno Gunn talks about prepping for the role for Brutus, meeting Suzanne Collins, and more!

To prepare for “Catching Fire” role as Brutus, a strong and brutal returning Hunger Games victor, Gunn worked out intensively three to four hours daily with trainer Drew Logan, doing a lot of weights, a lot of cardio and 500 situps every night.” “I was in good shape when I got the role, but I wanted to bring a stronger, bigger, more physical Brutus.”

Apparently, “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins was pleased with Gunn’s casting as Brutus. “When I met her,” he said, “she dove in and gave me a big bear hug.”

Bruno Gunn on Being Part of the Hunger Games Franchise

Our Brutus, Bruno Gunn, recently sat down with Ohio.com where he talks about what it’s like working on Catching Fire.

“I have journeyed a long time and this by far is the biggest thing I’ve worked on,” he said. “I’ve had a load of TV credits and some strong film credits. But this is a whole different animal. You’re involved in a massive franchise. … (True Blood and Sons) have amazing fan bases, and large fan bases. But (with Hunger Games) I have people reaching out to me from all over the world — India, Poland, Germany, Brazil, Japan. It’s amazing.”

And that sense of doing something important was evident when the movie was made a year ago, he said. “Everyone there knew how special this whole thing is. We all knew how lucky we were. Everybody was focused. Everyone was a pro. They brought their A game.”

Visit Ohio.com for the complete story, and if you’re in Canton, OH this Saturday you can see him host the Pathway Caring for Children’s 40th Anniversary event!
