Thanks to the incredible people at Ranker.com, we have access to a very cool Hunger Games list! As you can see below, Katniss leads the pack (no surprise), but Haymitch is in second?? We thought for sure that would be Peeta.
Fortunately, it’s a relatively new list, which means you can make an impact. CLICK HERE to vote and change the rankings!
Well this was a nice surprise today! The Hunger Games Explorer site has 20 stills of characters from Catching Fire along with bios of the actors who portray them! Not only to we get some great shots of Katniss and Peeta, but of many of the other Victors (like a smiling Mags), Caesar, President Snow, and more!
Now that you’ve seen them all, which one(s) do you like best?! It’s hard to choose, isn’t it?
Last week’s Catching Fire still from Empire magazine is now available in a high resolution version! Being much clearer, we get a great look at Effie and Peeta’s outfits, as well as that of the Capitol citizen behind them. Any idea what they’re looking at?
The final still from Hunger Games Explorer has been released. I could think of no one better to lead us off into the trailer than Effie Trinket – the only reason Katniss and Peeta get anywhere on time.
Friendly reminder that The Hunger Games: Catching Firetrailer will be debuting tonight at the MTV Movie Awards!
Some fans love to ship Haymitch and Effie (Hayffie), others are skeptical at best. Their romantic relationship was never clearly stated in the books, but as with everything in life you have to read between the lines. If you’re a regular Tumblr user, you will have come across Hayffie gifs countless times. Now it seems that Elizabeth Banks, who plays Effie, has acknowledged the Hayffie fandom.
Welcome back, Phoebe! And hello there Hayffie fans. I’ve seen you all on Tumblr and now Phoebe is here as your representative with “proof” that Effie and Haymitch are a couple. Agree or disagree? Leave your comments. Xx EB
Phoebe, a guest blogger on ElizabethBanks.com, has gathered some…evidence(?) to support the existence of Hayffie.
I feel like I could just leave this gif as proof that Haymitch and Effie secretly want each other despite their snarky comments, but I’m not going to do that. Why? Because there are countless other reasons why I love them and why I think they’d make a great (great as in annoyed-with-each-other-95%-of-the-time-but-still-in-love) couple.
Haymitch and Effie have that kind of banter-y relationship that definitely makes you wonder what they’re truly thinking and feeling. These two characters have known each other and worked closely with each other for years, surely there is an undercurrent of amicableness between them. If Effie truly hated Haymitch, I doubt she would have stayed on as escort for District 12, and most of the time Haymitch’s rude comments to Effie feel half-hearted. I think that beneath it all they’re attracted to each other. Some of the looks they shared in the movie certainly seemed that way. Anyone notice how Effie was always gravitating towards Haymitch on screen? And how in the books they’re always mentioned together?
There are also quotes from the book that she uses to support her case. It’s pretty funny regardless of whether you’re a Hayffie shipper or not. Read the rest of the blog post at ElizabethBanks.com
Incidentally, Elizabeth Banks tweeted this picture earlier. Is she a Hayffie shipper??
Elizabeth Banks talked to collider.com about The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and what she wants to bring to Effie this time around, and also about her co-star Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch Heavensbee) and director Francis Lawrence.
Now that you know what to expect fromThe Hunger Games fandom, what’s it like to gear up for that again with Catching Fire?
BANKS: I’m really happy that I don’t look like Effie Trinket, in real life. That’s a blessing! It’s really fun to go into a job knowing everybody. (Director) Francis Lawrence is amazing, and he’s got a great handle on everything and everybody. The stakes are definitely raised, in this one. The emotional stakes are raised. My costumes are all bigger and better and more over-the-top. Everybody is pulling out all the stops. We have so many amazing new actors coming to work with us. I just met Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and that was like, “Wow, we’ve got some really amazing actors joining us! That’s crazy!” It’s great. I’m super excited. I love Effie so much.
Will there be more of a human side to your character, this time around?
BANKS: In Catching Fire, Effie really starts to feel the injustice of what’s happening. We plan to explore that, in the movie.
She talks about other projects like Pitch Perfect, and loaning her voice for Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Click HERE to read the rest of the article.
