Pictorial on THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Fan Camp Weekend

From Saturday, November 16th through the red carpet U.S. premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Monday, November 18th, fans got a chance to camp out for the weekend and not only hang out with fellow fans, but also meet some of the stars of the sequel of The Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire.  700 fans slept out in tents that were set up specifically for them.  They got to show their support by bringing their own signs depicting favorite quotes and/or characters from the books.  On Saturday, the fans got to meet and get an item signed by Stephanie Leigh Schlund (Cashmere) and Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen).  Then on Sunday, Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair), Jena Malone (Johanna Mason), and Jeffrey Wright (Beetee) arrived for a group signing for the fans.  Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and director Francis Lawrence also came by as a surprise to sign for the loyal fans as well.

Various activities were to be had, such as taking a picture with the Catching Fire poster in the background and raffle drawings hosted by KIIS FM.  A Catching Fire T-Shirt, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, was given to each participating fan.  And fans were able to watch The Hunger Games movie on the big screen that overlooks the Nokia Plaza square in preparation for the sequel.

The highlight, of course, was the red carpet event itself, which brought out actors from Catching Fire as well as a few others, including The Hunger Games author herself, Suzanne Collins!  Afterwards, all campers were able to get a ticket to see the movie.

Check out the images from the red carpet!

thg-cf-soundtrack

It was already announced yesterday that Christina Aguilera will have  a song titled “We Remain” on the Catching Fire soundtrack.  And now, we have the official listing of the companion soundtrack.

NEW YORK, NY and SANTA MONICA, CA September 26, 2013 – Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) and Republic Records today announced a powerful, star-studded lineup for the soundtrack to the motion picture The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, mixing established music icons including seven-time Grammy® winning band Coldplay, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Patti Smith, and Grammy Award winning Christina Aguilera, along with some of the hottest Billboard chart topping newcomers in the music business.

Also top-lining this exceptionally talent-rich collection are The Lumineers, whose self-titled debut album achieved platinum sales status in the US, Canada (3x), UK, Ireland and Australia and Gold in Germany and France, with their hit single “Ho Hey” selling over 4.5 million single downloads in the US. Lorde, whose debut single “Royals” just made her the first female artist to top the Billboard Alternative Songs chart since Tracy Bonham in 1996, will also be featured on the soundtrack.

Multi-platinum alternative rock band Imagine Dragons, whose 6x platinum selling song “Radioactive” was dubbed “the biggest rock hit of the year” by Rolling Stone magazine; UK singer / songwriter Ellie Goulding whose recent release Halcyon Days includes platinum singles “Anything Could Happen” and “I Need Your Love;” Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Sia, whose recent collaborations “Titanium” with David Guetta and “Wild Ones” with Flo Rida were both featured in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits; pop indie duo Phantogram, who have collaborated with Big Boi, graced the cover of Filter Magazine, and who will release their debut album this fall; and platinum-certified Icelandic folk collective Of Monsters and Men, which became an international presence with the ubiquitous single “Little Talks,” contribute tracks as well.

Acclaimed Brooklyn rockers The National, much buzzed about Nashville-based artist Mikky Ekko, the artist The Weeknd, and award-winning singer-songwriter Santigold round out the white-hot The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, which has already seen its first release, Coldplay’s “Atlas,” debut at #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Songs chart. “Atlas” marks the first-ever motion picture soundtrack contribution written and recorded by Coldplay.

The soundtrack will be available in stores and through all digital retailers on November 19, 2013 just before the film opens worldwide on November 22, 2013. Right now, the album can be pre-ordered via the film’s official online store. The album hit #1 on the Billboard Top 200 on its release with sales over 175,000, making it the first soundtrack to top the chart since November 2009. It was the best-selling soundtrack of 2012, the fastest selling soundtrack ever at iTunes, and was certified gold by the RIAA shortly after its release. The album earned a Golden Globe Award nomination and three Grammy Award nominations, and its first single, Taylor Swift’s “Safe & Sound” featuring The Civil Wars, won the 2013 Grammy Award for “Best Song Written for Visual Media.”

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Trailer to Premiere At San Diego Comic-Con

The official word came from Lionsgate’s Facebook page that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire official full-length trailer will most definitely premiere at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the most popular convention in the world that centers largely on pop culture as well as comic books.

cf-sdcc-2013

No word yet on which actors will be attending the event, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as word arrives.  For those attending Comic-Con, this is an exclusive premiere, so you’ll be the first to see the trailer before the outside world gets to.  For those not able to attend, don’t worry, as I would think they’ll be showing it soon after on the internet and your local theaters.

Lionsgate Confirms New THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Trailer At Comic-Con

thg-cf-teaser-93There were rumors earlier that the Catching Fire trailer was going to debut at Comic-Con, but they were just rumors.  Well, today, Lionsgate finally sent out a press release stating that they would indeed show a new Catching Fire trailer on Saturday, July 20th, at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Lionsgate announced today that Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger will moderate a panel on Saturday, July 20th at the San Diego Comic-Con, featuring talent and exclusive footage from two of the studio’s upcoming films THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE (opening November 22, 2013, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth) and I, FRANKENSTEIN (opening January 24, 2014, the film stars Aaron Eckhart, Yvonne Strahovski and Bill Nighy). Talent from both films will be in attendance for the panel during which the studio will debut an exclusive new trailer for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE and never-before-seen footage from I, FRANKENSTEIN.

Starting today, moviegoers will have the chance to submit questions for panel participants through the films’ Facebook pages and Fandango’s Facebook page using the hashtags #CatchingFireComicCon and #IFrankensteinComicCon. Answers to select questions will be posted on those Facebook pages.

528414_656267497723238_513036575_nConsidering how Comic-Con has become such a huge event for pop culture, it should come as no surprise that the folks at Lionsgate would take the opportunity to raise the hype of the movie there.  As to who will be there at the event, there are no promises, but again, no surprise to see all three major players of the movie there, and maybe others as well.  If that were the case, I do believe it would be Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth’s first time at Comic-Con.  Woody Harrelson has appeared at Comic-Con before, for Zombieland, and Sam Claflin appeared for Snow White and the Huntsman (which co-starred Liam’s brother Chris Hemsworth).
